Make time for yourself
Use a longer countdown for an extended piece of reading, a project or a study session. You can pause or finish early; the timer is there to support your plans. An hour is long enough to settle in properly, so give it a task that deserves it.
Choose a specific part of the task and keep what you need nearby. Write down what a good hour would produce, such as a section drafted or a set of questions finished, so you know when you are done. If you finish early, take a break rather than filling time for its own sake.
An hour suits a full section of a past paper, a long-form piece of writing, a meeting with a hard stop, or a session of practice on an instrument. It also works as a kitchen timer for a slow roast when you want something calmer to look at than the oven clock. Turn on Keep screen on, where supported, so the display stays awake.
A new session uses a sixty-minute focus, a ten-minute short break and a twenty-minute long break. The long break is offered after four completed focus phases. Every new phase starts only when you choose.
Yes. A fresh session starts at 60:00. If you have an active or paused timer, use the new-timer button and confirm to replace it with the hour.
Yes. Custom accepts whole minutes from 1 to 180 for focus, short break and long break. Saving settings does not change the duration of a running or paused phase.
Yes. The countdown is based on a fixed end time, so it shows the correct remaining time when you come back. A completion chime may be delayed or silenced while the device is asleep.
Step away from the screen. Stretch, walk, refill your water or look out of a window. The break starts only when you press Start, and it waits if you need a moment to finish a sentence.
