Make time for yourself
Many exam papers run for around two hours. Sitting a past paper at full length, in one go, lets you practise your pacing as well as the content, and a clear countdown makes it feel closer to the real thing.
Clear the desk, put your phone in another room and keep only what you would be allowed on the day. Open fullscreen, turn on Keep screen on where your browser supports it, and choose Still scene if you want nothing moving. Before you start, note roughly where you should be at the halfway mark. When the timer ends, it waits, so you can finish your last line before stopping.
In a real exam you work straight through, but for ordinary study two hours is a long time without a rest. Pause for a short stretch at the hour, or use two 50-minute focus phases with a ten-minute break between them instead. This page sets a ten-minute short break and a twenty-minute long break, and each one waits for you to start it. After a full paper, take the long break properly before you start marking.
For exam practice, silence or a steady background noise is closer to the real room than music. White, pink or brown noise plays continuously and is generated live in your browser. Keep the tab open and the device awake and plugged in, as audio may stop if the device sleeps.
Yes. A fresh timer on this page is set to 120 minutes of focus. Custom accepts any whole number up to 180 minutes, so you can set a three-hour paper too.
