A low, steady rumble.
Deep, soft and continuous. Turn it up just enough to blur the room.

Brown noise is the deepest of the three noise colours here. It sounds like a low rumble: a strong waterfall heard from the next room, or the steady hum inside a train carriage. It is far less hissy than white noise.
White noise spreads its energy evenly, so it sounds bright and hissy. Pink noise turns the high frequencies down and sits in between. Brown noise turns them down much further, leaving mostly the low end. If white noise feels sharp, brown is a gentler place to start. The name comes from Brownian motion, not the colour.
Set it low, below the level of normal conversation, and start a focus session. Some people find a deep, steady sound masks distracting noise such as voices, footsteps or a television in the next room. There is no melody, so there is nothing to follow. Add rain on top if you want some texture, or leave it plain.
The noise is generated live in your browser, so it runs continuously without a repeating loop. It has its own volume slider and works with or without the timer. Your browser needs one click on the page before it plays.
Neither suits everyone. Brown is deeper and less hissy; white is brighter. Try each for a session and keep whichever you stop noticing.
No. Mood Quarter offers it as a background sound only and makes no medical claims. If you have concerns about your hearing, concentration or sleep, speak to a health professional.
It may not. Audio can stop when the device sleeps or the browser suspends the tab, and a phone may pause it when the screen locks. Keep the tab open and the device awake and plugged in.
Yes. It is one layer of several. Add rain, fireplace, ocean or instrumental music, each with its own volume slider, or switch the noise colour to pink or white at any time.
