Your little corner

A study background that feels like a room

Each room is a calm scene with the full focus timer over it. Pick a view that suits your mood, add sound if you want it, and treat it as your focus room for the session. Every room is free and needs no account.

City windows in the rain

Night Rain is a desk above a night-time city. Darling Harbour looks over Sydney and Pyrmont Bridge. Tokyo After Hours has steaming coffee and Tokyo Tower, and Manhattan Midnight has a brass lamp and the Empire State Building. All four start soft rain when you enter, once you have clicked on the page. The scenes move slowly, with rain on the glass and lights in the distance, so they sit behind your work rather than competing with it.

Quieter rooms

The Rainy Library is a daytime library desk with a window onto a leafy courtyard; it starts quiet, and rain is optional. Midnight Ripples and Velvet Drift are abstract: slow-moving coloured light in a choice of six colours, with no sound until you choose one. Choose one of these when you want calm behind the timer without a story to follow.

Make the room yours

Every room has the full timer, with presets, Custom durations, Pause and Resume. Choose Minimal or Hide controls to keep the view clear, Still scene to stop the motion, and fullscreen for a bigger window. Dark and light themes work everywhere, and Keep screen on stops the display dimming, where your browser supports it. Save a room with your durations and sound mix as a session and relaunch it in one click.

A few useful details

Do the study rooms cost anything?

No. Every room is free, with no account or sign-up.

Can I stop the animation?

Yes. Choose Still scene to stop the motion behind the timer.

Which rooms have sound?

The four city rooms start rain when you enter. The Rainy Library, Midnight Ripples and Velvet Drift start quiet. In any room you can add rain, fireplace, ocean, music, or white, pink or brown noise.

Will my timer carry on if I change rooms?

Yes. A running or paused timer is preserved as you move between pages.

Find your rhythm.

A little structure, on your terms.
Choose a rhythm or make it your own.

Use whole minutes from 1 to 180. Take a long break after every four completed focuses. Each new phase waits for you to start it.

Changes apply to your next timer. A running or paused timer keeps its current duration.

How your timer works

Your timer and preferences stay in this browser. The countdown catches up after sleep; a backwards clock change pauses it. Completion sounds may be delayed or silenced while your device sleeps. Enable the chime in Sounds.

Timer & preferences

The chime has its own soft volume. Your device may silence it while asleep. Rain starts when you enter Night Rain or Darling Harbour. Layer sounds here or pause them individually. Audio gently softens at the end of a focus phase.
