Your little corner

Rain in Tokyo, late in the evening

Tokyo After Hours places you at a wooden desk high above the city. A cup of coffee steams beside you, Tokyo Tower glows through the rain, and the lights carry on into the distance.

The scene

Steam rises from the cup, rain runs down the glass and the city glows beyond it. The warm desk and the wide city outside give the room a tucked-away feeling. The movement is slow and quiet, made to sit behind your work rather than in front of it. Tokyo rain starts playing when you enter, once you have clicked on the page.

Tokyo rain for late work

This room suits the hours after everyone else has gone to bed: a last chapter, a piece of writing, a problem you want to finish. If you are in another time zone, it is a way to borrow a quiet Tokyo night during your own day. Try the rain with the instrumental track Streetlights on Wet Roads at a low level, or add a little brown noise underneath for a heavier night.

Focus above the city

The full timer sits over the scene with the Classic and Deep work presets and Custom durations. Choose Minimal to keep just the time and Tokyo Tower, or Still scene to stop the motion, and go fullscreen for the widest view of the skyline. Keep screen on stops the display dimming during a long session, where your browser supports it. Every phase waits for you to press Start.

A few useful details

Is Tokyo After Hours a live view?

No. It is an animated scene with Tokyo Tower in view, not a live camera.

Can I make the rain louder or softer?

Yes. Move the rain slider. Each sound layer has its own volume, so you can change the rain without touching the music.

Can I save this room with my timer settings?

Yes. Save a session to keep the room, your durations and your sound mix together, then relaunch it in one click. Saved sessions stay in this browser.

Do I need an account to use Tokyo After Hours?

No. It is free with no sign-up. Your preferences stay in this browser.

Find your rhythm.

A little structure, on your terms.
Choose a rhythm or make it your own.

Use whole minutes from 1 to 180. Take a long break after every four completed focuses. Each new phase waits for you to start it.

Changes apply to your next timer. A running or paused timer keeps its current duration.

How your timer works

Your timer and preferences stay in this browser. The countdown catches up after sleep; a backwards clock change pauses it. Completion sounds may be delayed or silenced while your device sleeps. Enable the chime in Sounds.

The chime has its own soft volume. Your device may silence it while asleep. Rain starts when you enter Night Rain or Darling Harbour. Layer sounds here or pause them individually. Audio gently softens at the end of a focus phase.
